Dear Palbert, Sorry for the confusion - I had the autobio tag removed. Yet, I would suggest that the article be slightly edited. --Camptown 22:17, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Trevor Marshall

[edit]

This discussion is more appropriate on Talk:Trevor Marshall, so I have started a discussion there. As far as removing the NPOV tag, User:DGG added, so it's up to him to remove it. I will invite him to the discussion. RB972 04:54, 16 February 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Palbert, I am writing to you as I cannot write to the anonymous person who posted incorrect and/or misleading information on my Wikipedia bio. I understand that WP:BLP encourages the living subject of a bio to strive to ensure that the facts in that bio are materially correct.
Yesterday two edits were made. Firstly, the teaching position at University of Western Australia from 1979 to 1982 was removed from my bio. I have placed a scan of two payroll documents covering this period at http//trevormarshall.com/old_papers/UWA_employment_1979-82.pdf and I would ask you to ensure the error in the bio has been reverted back to its correct status.
The same individual (apparently) also posted the following statement, which contains materially incorrect information: "For 12 years, from 1988 until 2000, Marshall was the Chairman, CEO and principle shareholder of YARC Systems Corporation, a publicly listed corporation based in California which researched, designed and produced printer technology, such as postscript raster image processor software and printer servers. [9]. The The YARC-XP, released in 1997, was the first Internet-enabled Print Server.[10] In 2001 YARC became insolvent and was liquidated.[11]."
It is incorrect to say that I was Chairman, CEO and Principal shareholder during this time. YARC became a publicly traded corporation in 1998, a President was appointed, founder stock was dispersed, and I no longer had effective control of the corporation (a reasonable person would have inferred 'effective control' from the above statement). The products of the corporation are not properly presented and there is no attempt to present the awards and successes achieved by that corporation. IMHO, it is misleading to fail to note that YARC was recently revived by Court order, and that I was absolved of any personal fiduciary responsibility during that litigation. Indeed, it is not possible to condense the life cycle of a corporation into a short statement, and I would urge you to resist attempts to do so, especially when an editor appears to have taken inadequate steps to ensure the accuracy of statements made.
Sincerely, Prof. Trevor G Marshall —Preceding unsigned comment added by Trevmar (talkcontribs) 12:05, 31 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]
